Leadership Thoughts; “Build a legacy”

by sspiva on Apr.03, 2009, under Larry Potter

Those that truly accept the awesome responsibility of leading realize that it’s not about a job or position. The whole concept of being a leader is bigger than themselves or any one individual. The inspirational leader is not there for themselves, but to develop something that will touch generations to come. Leaders don’t just go to work, they build a legacy.

Thank you for the Christian leadership you exemplify each day.

Leadership Thoughts; “Are you part of the problem?”

by sspiva on Mar.07, 2009, under Leadership Development

When you are leading people and you don’t get the results you want, the problem could be you. As a leader, ask yourself three questions;

Did I clearly articulate the goals?
Did I give people enough time and resources to accomplish the task?
Did I give people enough training?

When you are truly honest with yourself, it is possible that you have not supported your people or provided everything that they need to be successful. If this is the case, then you are as much of the problem as your people are.

Leading people is hard – even harder to evaluate and lead yourself.

Thank you for the Christian leadership you exemplify each day.

Leadership Thoughts; “When all else fails…Stick to the basics”

by sspiva on Feb.14, 2009, under Leadership Development

All football teams want to impress their opponents and fans with fancy moves and plays. But when things are not working well and the points are not on the score board, the coach will always fall back to the basic fundamentals of the game. The team must rely on basic blocking, tackling, protection of the ball, effort, discipline and teamwork before any of the fancy stuff will work.

Organizations that rely totally on the fancy stuff to advance their cause without the the basics in place, will fail in the end. Leaders must insure that the basics are in place and working well in their organization to provide the proper foundation for improvement and advancement.

Thank you for the Christian leadership you exemplify each day.
